Arvandus stood atop a remote hill, but which was a place of convergence for ley lines and cosmic energies belying its peaceful location. His hands were encased in the Bracers of Ethereal Resonance, and as he raised them, the night sky above him seemed to respond in kind. Stars twinkled with newfound intensity, and the very fabric of reality shimmered as he shifted his hands and arms. As the bracers pulsed with power, ethereal threads of violet energy began weaving themselves into intricate patterns. They extended like spectral tendrils, spiraling outward and encircling Arvandus with a celestial dance. The filigree on the bracers glowed with a radiant light, casting an otherworldly aura around him. With a mere thought, Arvandus summoned forth a rift in the heavens, a tear between worlds. From this rift emerged a shower of brilliant stardust, each particle shimmering with cosmic energy. They circled him like a protective barrier, forming an astral shield he'd need desperately in the coming battle.

Wondrous Item (bracers), legendary (requires attunement)
The Bracers of Ethereal Resonance are fashioned from intricate gold lattice and filigree. Light purple gems, each set into a delicate gold circle, adorn the upper portion of each bracer. Suspended from these gems, a string of fine gold beads dangles gracefully, swaying with the slightest movement. The interior of the bracers is lined with a luxurious royal purple silk fabric which overflows out onto the wearer's elbows.
The Bracers of Ethereal Resonance are said to have been forged by the enigmatic archmage Arvandus the Astralweaver, a master of weaving magic and cosmic energies into physical form. Arvandus was renowned for his obsession with the stars and the planes beyond, and it is believed that these bracers were his magnum opus. He created them in an attempt to bridge the gap between the material world and the ethereal plane. Arvandus disappeared without a trace centuries ago, leaving behind only a cryptic tome detailing the creation of the bracers. The bracers have since passed through the hands of numerous adventurers, mages, and even kings, each drawn to their mystical allure.
Ethereal Empowerment: While wearing these bracers, you gain a deeper connection to the ethereal plane. You have advantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks when trying to discern the intentions of creatures with innate magical abilities or otherworldly origins from the ethereal plane. Also, you are able to cast Etherealness once per day.
Ethereal Shield: Once per long rest, as a reaction when you are hit by an attack, you can channel the ethereal energies within the bracers to create a phase shield around you to partially phase out of reality. You take no damage from the attack and your ethereal quality lasts for two rounds or until you attack.
Resonant Blast: As an action, you can expend one charge from the bracers to unleash a wave of ethereal energy in a 30-foot cone in front of you. Creatures caught in the cone must make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, taking 3d8 force damage on a failed save or half as much damage on a successful one. The bracers have 3 charges and regain all expended charges at dawn.
