Bori's Spiced Camp Potatoes
Updated: May 4

Hail, adventurer, and well met. I hear you're heading northwest to Glacier Worm Gap and gathering supplies. That's a dangerous trek and you'll find little sustenance along the way, unless you have a taste for Sky Mantas. No? Then listen up - this recipe got me through many long nights bushwhacking across the Northern Reaches. I wasn't always the cook here at Saltwater Cauldron. When I joined the Red Scarabs to cook for them, this was one of their favorite recipes. It's easy to make, doesn't require much in the way of cookware or ingredients, and sticks to your belly, especially when your breath frosts in the air and you have many long miles to travel on foot. Cook this for your adventuring group and you and your friends might just stave off the exhaustion and make it back here in one piece. At the very least, if you come across one of those Glacier Worms, you won't die on an empty stomach.

Bori's Spiced Camp Potatoes
These delicious potatoes make an excellent side dish and makes enough for 2-3 hungry adventurers.
Ingredients:
1lb small, waxy potatoes (Yukon are best)
1 small yellow onion (optional)
3 cloves of garlic
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp rosemary
1 tbsp paprika
Salt and pepper
Instructions:
Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. Fill pot half full with water and bring to boil. Add the potatoes and cook 8-10 minutes or until a fork easily pierces them. Drain water, set aside potatoes to dry, 5-10 minutes. The longer the potatoes dry, the crispier they will become.
Mince garlic, rosemary, and onion if desired. Fresh rosemary is best but on the trail, dried lasts longer.
Put pot on medium heat. Add olive oil and coat bottom of the pot. Add potatoes flat side down, then add garlic and, if you choose to, onions. Cook until golden brown (about 5-6 minutes) and then turn potatoes over. Add butter. Sauté another 4-5 minutes.
Add rosemary, paprika, and pepper to taste, and then carefully stir everything together so the potatoes are coated in the spices. Remove the potatoes, serve, and enjoy.
